I bet you thought this day would never come. I bet you thought I’d given up. I bet you thought it’d take forever for me to post this (well in that last instance, you would be correct).
I give you – the finished bathroom! (as finished as it will be for a while, anyhow) Here’s the layout, which didn’t change. This was more of a facelift-type redo:
(my first ever digital sketch in Flash. Don’t judge.)
Before – When we moved in (the toilet seat is up – Ack!):
All the tile is the same, but the walls and beadboard have been painted. I framed the ship art, so it looks much more intentional now. The baskets on the window sill are from IKEA, the shower curtains are from Target and the little window curtain I sewed myself using scrap fabric. The hanging plant was a total pain to install, but definitely worth it in the end. It just adds so much life to the space.
In all reality, I’d still like to replace the toilet seat with a white one and replace the light fixture and door knob, but those cost money, so they’re lower on my list of priorities right now. I still can’t believe how much of a change just painting and adding accessories has been!
Before – from the other side on move-in day:
The mirror was created using our old recessed medicine cabinet and a picture frame I found in the dumpster (super classy), I just cut the wood it down to size and glued it together (more on that in this post). The vanity was a curb find (more in this post)- so it was free, with the exception of the plumbing repairs and pieces that were necessary after removing our old vanity. The light fixture was existing – it’s nothing special.
Here’s a better shot of that beautiful vanity:
And a big “Huzzah!” for the success! I’m so glad this turned out the way it did. Not too shabby on a small budget.
Budget Breakdown:
Paint and supplies: $100 (one gallon primer, one gallon white paint, one gallon wall paint and a paintbrush)
Rug: $15
Shower curtains/liners:$60 ( I needed two curtains and two liners since the rod is curved)
Vanity: FREE (more information in this post) except for those plumbing pieces
Plumbing parts/repairs (fun stuff like a blow torch!): $30
Accessories: $30 (liquid soap, baskets, special plant hanger hook, art)
Total Spent: $235.00 BOOM. (total time spent? Let’s not talk about that part…)
What do you think? As for me, I’m ecstatic! Now I’m off to decide which space is next!
